In loving memory of William David Rhodes, who fell asleep in death at The Kobacker House September 1, 2024. William (Bill) dedicated his life to being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and sharing the Bible’s promise of a wonderful future with many. His profession as an Elevator Mechanic for 39 years presented him with the privilege of being the resident jack of all trades “Dusty” at The Beechtree apartments in Mt. Vernon Ohio for an added 17 years. He was a cherished family man and loyal friend to many. His legacy is one filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Preceded in death by his parents William Harold Rhodes, and Mary Virginia (Wolfe) Rhodes, along with his niece Susan Morrison, he leaves behind true friendships that defined him.
For 51 years, Patricia “Patti-de-Ellen” stood beside him as the love of his life. Their bond was exemplary-a testament to a “threefold chord that cannot quickly be torn apart”.
He took immense pride in being Father to Boyd David Rhodes, Jeffrey David Rhodes, and Carrie Anne Rhodes. He embraced two daughters-in-law Michelle (Carpenter) Rhodes and April (Bates) Rhodes as if they were his own. As “Poppy” he adored each grandchild: Cody David Rhodes, Carter David Rhodes, Aelyn Virginia Rhodes, Camilla “Milly” Jay Rhodes, and Joshua David Rhodes. Each moment spent together created lasting bonds that will be treasured forever.
His brothers Thomas Rhodes and Barry Rhodes were not just siblings; they were best friends throughout their lives. Together with their wives Sandra Rhodes and Elaine Rhodes the brotherhood formed a bond built on trust and support.
To many nieces and nephews including Khristelle (Rhodes) Cornell, Taylor Rhodes, Grant Rhodes, Camden Rhodes, Rick Morrison and Steve Morrison, Uncle Bill was more than just an uncle; he embodied warmth, kindness, and wisdom.
Bill’s presence remains alive within the heart of all those whose lives he touched. From family gatherings full of joy, shared stories over classic cars NASCAR races, Harley Davidson rides, Cleveland Browns games and countless other moments that will be with us forever. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Family will be present to receive visitors Saturday September 14, 2024, starting at 2 pm followed by a memorial service that describes William’s hope for the future at 3 pm:
