Virginia M. Curfman (VanSteenberg), 1930-2024
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Virginia Curfman, passed away on June 27, 2024. Virginia was born in 1930 to Lee and Laura VanSteenberg; and married Kenneth Curfman in 1948, just one month after she graduated high school. She and Ken were married for almost 60 years. Virginia is survived by daughter Georgia, son Ken (Sue), five grandchildren (Christine, Rachel, Laura, Matt, Mark), 10 great grandchildren, sister Frances, and many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by husband Ken (2008), stillborn daughter Rebecca (1955), son-in-law Rick (2023), and four brothers and one sister. Both Ken and Virginia were active in Church of the Redeemer (Columbus), where they both enjoyed planning and preparing meals. Virginia was active in the Redeemer Hope Circle and Redeemer Prime Timers where she was the event planner for their monthly meetings. Virginia loved looking through cookbooks and preparing meals for large groups – she regularly had vivid dreams of cooking and handing out food to others. She enjoyed creating her own homemade greeting cards, loved watching things grow, and dabbled in some crocheting and quilting. It was Virginia’s wish to donate her body to Ohio State Medical School where students would have the opportunity to research and study more about macular degeneration. The family hopes that as you recall those special memories of Virginia, you will do so with a smile and a laugh.
Donations can be made to Church of the Redeemer United Methodist, 235 McNaughten Road, Columbus 43213 in Virginia’s memory.
