VIOLET JEAN STEEN PUCHSTEIN
COLUMBUS – Jean Puchstein, 94, died peacefully in her sleep on December 9, 2021. She was born March 23, 1927, in Columbus, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Smith) Steen.
Jean graduated from North High School and married soon thereafter. She lived a rich and full life and will be remembered for her Christian faith and commitment to family and friends, as well as being active in social concerns including fair housing, prison ministry and reform, peace education, and anti-nuclear and environmental causes. She was a member of both Indianola Presbyterian Church in Columbus and Beacon Hill Fellowship in Lakeland FL.
Jean is predeceased by her loving husband Paul Puchstein, son John Puchstein, grandson Adam Gibson, and sister Dorothy Petrie. She is survived by son William Puchstein and wife Roberta Kay of Frankfort OH, and daughter Paula Stevenson and husband David of Sugar Grove OH; grandchildren Aaron Gibson and wife Patrice of Huntersville NC, William Stevenson of Columbus OH, Robert Stevenson of Columbus OH, Timothy Stevenson and wife Carolyn of Powell OH, and Eric Stevenson and wife Aubrielle of Powell OH; great-grandchildren Liam and Wyatt Gibson, Estelle and Rees Stevenson, and Summer Stevenson; and nephew and nieces Eric Puchstein and wife Carolyn of Auburn GA, Charity Monroe and husband John Michael of Galena OH, Melody Borchers and husband William of Bremen OH, and Cynthia Petrie and husband Timothy Gathers of Lancaster OH.
