Victoria “Vicki” Marie Goodson, 70 of Columbus Ohio, surrounded by her family on Saturday May 27, 2023, received her heavenly wings. Vicki was born September 16, 1952, to Viola and Jessie Hill in Beckley West Virginia. She was the youngest of three sisters and enjoyed spending time with her family. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1970.
After high school she moved to Huntington West Virginia to attend barber school, she graduated and received her barber license. While in Huntington she met Presley Goodson, and they married in 1971 and moved to Columbus. She became a proud mother of five children whom she cherished. Vicki was a loving mother and always sacrificed her needs for the needs of her children. She was a proud grandmother of five grandchildren that she adored and loved more than anything in this world.
Vicki worked in the dietary field for many years but because of her nurturing and caring spirit she worked the latter part of her life as a childcare provider, and she was a foster parent. She had a huge heart and loved life. She loved God and she developed an unwavering faith in God- a faith that motivates you to forgive and love others, find peace, overcome doubt, and persevere through trials in life.
Vicki enjoyed having heartfelt conversations with her children, sisters, cousins, and friends. She was very wise and always the first person her children reached out to for advice on life. She loved going to the movies and dinner and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to smile and laugh. She was a selfless person always putting the needs of others before her own needs.
Vicki’s parents Viola and Jessie Hill, her brother Orlando Hill and her husband Presley Goodson preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing but rejoice in her everlasting life her five children: Tifpheny “Kelly” Barron (Clenton), Macy Goodson, Casey Goodson, Mona Goodson, and Phillip Goodson; five grandchildren: Brianna Barron, Jared Goodson, Camille Barron, Jordan Goodson, and Joelle Goodson; one great grandchild: Ariel Goodson; 2 sisters: Frances Walters and Barbara Sanders-Norwood (Ben): nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Vicki was a beloved daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. We take comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of her heavenly father, who welcomed her home with open arms. She will be greatly missed but always in our hearts.
