Tom Lord

December 3, 1951 — September 4, 2017

Tom Lawrence Lord of Sunbury, Ohio

Tom Lord never knew a stranger, just people he hadn’t met yet. A true “people person", Tom could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. There’s a good chance if you’re reading this and you didn’t personally know him, he probably knew someone you know. It was the true nature of Tom as he cherished those in his life and met new people with open arms. With his love of family came his love of cooking for them. An avid and wonderful cook, Tom created delicious holiday meals for his family and was often surprising family members with their favorite foods. When he wasn’t in the kitchen cooking, he enjoyed working in his garden which was full of everything from garlic to tomatoes. You can bet if you visited Tom in the summer, he would send you home with at least one home-grown tomato.

Tom passed from this life on Monday, September 4th, 2017 in Columbus after a very short battle with cancer. Born on December 3, 1951 in Edinburgh, Indiana, he was the son of Lawrence and Virginia (Higgins) Lord. Tom graduated from Shelby High School and later moved to Sunbury, Ohio for most of his life.

He is survived by his significant other, Nancy Lord, brother Tim (Cindy) Lord of Margate, Florida, sister Tam Lord of Galion, daughter Beth Lord of Mansfield, son Tim (Kristi) Lord of Mansfield, step-son Thomas (Dawn) Wolf of Clintonville, granddaughters Elise Wolf of Clintonville, Holly Siwek of West Lafayette, Indiana, Olivia Lord of Mansfield, grandsons Jake Lord of Mansfield and Michael Siwek of Mansfield, great granddaughter, Raelynn Siwek, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Lawrence and Virginia.

A private family memorial will be held to celebrate Tom’s life.
