Tamarra Sue Mockus (1946-2024)
Tamarra “Tami” Sue Mockus (78), of Newark, OH, passed peacefully on December 8, 2024, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Tami was born on October 5, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Donald and Donna Westfall. She graduated from Mifflin High School in 1964 and moved to Newark in the late sixties, spending her days on the family’s horse farm in Wilkins Corner.
Tami had a passion for helping others, leading her to become one of the first female firefighters in Mary Ann Township as well as earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Central Ohio Technical College in 1984.
Over her 30-year nursing career, she worked for multiple hospitals including: Bethesda, Good Samaritan, Mount Carmel, and Fairfield Medical Center. She spent most of her time in the emergency room where she thrived as an action junkie. Tami also served as an Emergency Management Agency Coordinator for Southeast Ohio.
After retirement, Tami refocused her caring energy to raising numerous dogs, cats, and her beloved miniature ponies. She also loved to research genealogy and spent numerous hours doing so at the Licking County Library with friends.
Tami is survived by her sons, Gary (Valerie) Mockus, David (Kim) Mockus, Jason (Katie) Mockus; grandchildren, Sky (Joy) Hartfield, Kaitlynn Mockus, Jordan (Collin McCullough) Mockus; brother, David (Margaret) Westfall; niece, Allison Westfall; nephew, Daniel Westfall; half-sister, Barbara (Jim) Wentworth; multiple cousins; and special friend, Maryanne Watkins.
Tami was preceded in death by her grandparents, Claude and Berta Turner, and parents, Donald and Donna Westfall.
Caring cremations have taken place with Shaw-Davis Funeral Home. At her request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
