Susanna M. Winstead, 71 of Columbus Ohio, passed away Saturday October 9, 2021 at Claremont Retirement Village.
She was born on August 3, 1950 in Philipsburg, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Melva (Selfridge) Smolko. Her nickname was “Susie”. She was Catholic by faith. She graduated from West Branch Area School, Allport PA, and South Hills Business College in State College, PA.
While living in PA and VA, she held various jobs and also loved helping with March of Dimes. In 2007 she moved with her partner, Larry to Columbus, OH. In Columbus she was a member of the Hilliard Senior Center and was involved in other community activities. She loved baking, crafting, gardening, bingo, and her cats.
Susanna is survived by her partner of 19 years, Larry Howe and his daughter Kim Howe of Columbus, Ohio, sister Kathy Kitko and her husband Howard of Morrisdale, PA, Rose Mary Byte, of Guthrie, Oklahoma several nieces, nephews and great nephews. She also had a great friend Molly Markiewicz.
In addition to to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husbands, Lawrence Winstead, Whitestone VA and Albert Mc Laughlin of Clearfield PA, her siblings Joseph Smolko, Mark Smolko, and niece Peggy J. Smolko.
The family suggests that memorials contribution be made to the Diabetes Foundation or March of Dimes.
Services will be held on Wednesday October 20, 2021 at the Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes Clintonville Chapel, 4341 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43214. The family will receive guests from 2 pm to 3 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 3 pm.
