Susan Kay Brackbill of Columbus, Ohio died in Columbus on August 1, 2024. Susan was born January 15, 1969 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Dr. David S. Brackbill and Marsha Kay Brackbill. Susan was married to Robert Murle Wagner on January 11, 2010 in Columbus and was a graduate of Ohio Dominican University and Governor’s Academy in Byfield, Massachusetts where she was an honor student and outstanding French Student of the year. She also studied Spanish in an immersion course at the Academia Hispano Americana in San Migual de Allende, Mexico. In addition to Columbus and her native Massachusetts, Susan also resided in Maine and Texas over the years.

Susan is survived by her husband Robert of Columbus and her mother Marsha of Wilmington, North Carolina, and her Aunt Joan Russell Brackbill and cousins James Earle Brackbill, III (Jeb) and Anne Brackbill McKee. Susan was predeceased by her father Dr. David S. Brackbill, brother Dave Brackbill and Uncle Dr. James Earle Brackbill Jr.

Susan loved everything about the culinary arts and worked at restaurants in Columbus as a hostess, server and bartender including Haiku Poetic Food & Art, Otani and Gordon Biersch. Susan’s husband Robert considered her to be a 'gifted culinary genius’ that was always able to make the right decisions in the kitchen. Susan also studied esthiology in Columbus and worked at Ulta and the White Orchid Inn Spa In Flager Beach, Florida and loved to help customers of all ages achieve a positive and confident self-image. Susan also enjoyed working at the Columbus Museum of Art and the Jabberwocky Bookshop in Newbury, Massachusetts.

Susan loved the outdoors, especially traveling to beaches in New England, Florida, North Carolina and Hawaii to enjoy surf, sand, sun and seafood. Susan was also a superb backgammon player.

Susan was a dedicated member of AA in Columbus since 2017. Funeral Arrangements will be handled by Shaw-Davis (Victorian Village) in Columbus with a service planned for Friday August 9th, 2024. Susan always lived life to the fullest despite multiple health challenges and never neglected to see the importance and dignity of anyone she knew. Her magnificent and beautiful smile, sparkling eyes and sweet voice will be missed by all her family and friends.
