Sunny Tier

Sunny Jo Tier, age 80, passed away on May 29, 2020. She was born on December 22, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio and was a lifelong resident.

She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life including cooking, knitting, going dancing, swimming, and fishing. Sunny was also an avid reader, often owning too many books to count, and she was particularly fond of mystery novels. Along with her love of reading, she was active with bowling, which John introduced to her and she picked up very quickly. Sunny also became a keen golfer, with a spot on drive that could rival John on the shorter par 3 and par 4 holes. And because Sunny never met an animal she didn’t like, she loved and cared for many fur-babies throughout her life.

Sunny is preceded in death by her mother Lillian C. Hicks-Chesser and brother Wayne “Butch” Chesser. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, John Tier, son Keith (Dariel) Shirk, sister Vonna Haines, nephew Wil (Brooke) Tilley, as well as many other beloved family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held on June 4, 2020 at 10 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 893 Hamlet St., Columbus, Ohio 43201.
