Stella Francis Stephens

Stella Francis Stephens, 69, passed away peacefully at the Kobacker House of Ohio Health on Friday, September 27, 2024. Stella was born on October 11, 1954 to Telesfore and Grace Marsh Podolski. Her mother separated from Telesfore and later married Charles (Charlie) McDaniel. Charlie graciously took over the role as Stella’s father, and Stella loved him as her father. All three preceded Stella in death. 

Stella spent many years in Michigan and Texas before settling in Marion, Ohio where she met the love of her life, David (Dave) Stephens. Stella and Dave were married on September 28, 1991. Marrying Dave also gave Stella something she had always wanted. Two children. Stella stepped right into the role of mom for both TJ and Cory, and went on to be the best Mamaw possible to her and Dave’s seven grandchildren. 

Stella did many different careers in her life, but loved none of them as much as being a wife, mother and grandmother. She had many hobbies including drawing and painting, crocheting, reading, taking care of her plants, and spending time with her dogs Echo, Scrappy and Patches.

Being a woman of faith, Stella spent many hours reading her bible and watching many sermons on tv. Her and her sister, Mary, would talk two times a day about Jesus, their lives and their plans for the day. 

Stella was survived by her children, Tara (Jason) Detillion and Cory (Ashley) Stephens, her grandchildren, Colton, Mason, Kalib, Jaelynn (Bryce) Taylor (Jess), Keyareuh (Damion) and Marissa, and her two great granddaughters Farlee Faye and Bryleigh, her sister and brother in law Mary and Jim Warner, three nieces, two nephews and several great nieces and nephews as well as a large family from Dave’s side. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one nephew and a grandson, Blake. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Morral United Methodist Church (206 W Neff St Morral, Ohio) in the fellowship room on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 3pm to 5pm. Please have your favorite story of Stella ready to share!

The family would like to give special thanks to The Kobacker House of Ohio Health for the exceptional love and care Stella and the family received in Stella’s final days, and to Shaw - Davis Funeral home in Columbus for handling everything after her passing.
