Shirley Sue Hudnall

Shirley "Sue" Hudnall, age 88, died on Jan. 17, 2024, in Lindstrom, Minn., after a valiant struggle with COPD.

Shirley was born on Oct. 14, 1935, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Howard and Rachel Martin. She married Paul Richard Hudnall on Feb. 19, in 1957. She worked most of her career at Xerox in an era where there were few women working with mainframe computers. She ended her working career at age 78 at Holiday Beauty Salon in Bexley, Ohio, where she forged many meaningful relationships that lasted through the end of her life. 

When diagnosed in 2022 with COPD, colon cancer and breast cancer, she bravely left her home of 86 years in Ohio and moved to Minnesota to live with her daughter. She was so proud when she received her official State of Minnesota ID card.  Shirley loved holidays (especially Christmas), shopping, and "children and animals (in that order)". Her children and grandchildren were her greatest passions. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Paula Sue, and sisters Dona and Rosemary. She is survived by children Natalie and Cindi (Chad), grandchildren Riley, Alex (Kristina) and Tessa, her sister Beverly McKibben, brothers Wayne and John, and many nieces and nephews. 

For a woman who found it hard to express her innermost feelings, she had immense love for her family and friends. In her final days she made a list of all the people she loved. If you knew her, your name was on the list. 

Shirley will be returned to Ohio to be buried alongside her husband. No visitation services are planned.
