Shelly Burleson

Shelly Burleson, age 57, transitioned to her life in eternity with Jesus Christ her Savior and Lord on June 29, 2022.  She was born to parents Jim and Sue (Stapf) Burleson on July 1,1964 and departed this life on June 29, 2022 in Columbus, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jim.  She is survived by her devoted and loving mother Sue; brother Chad & sister-in-law Kelly.  The sun rose and set on her 3 outstanding nephews:  Matthew (Morgan), Michael (Madison), Zachary Burleson and great niece Lucy Elizabeth Burleson.

Shelly was a graduate of Westerville South high school and attended The Ohio State University and Franklin University.  She worked for the State of Ohio, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, Bureau of Disability Determination for 30+ years, she was a licensed massage therapist and ran a pet sitting business on the side.  Shelly loved to gather family and friends together.  She created and organized the “Burleson & friends” Memorial Day Picnics, hosted and helped with many of the Burleson Annual Christmas parties.  Shelly had many memorable moments spent with family, friends and co-workers but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her precious and beloved nephews.  Her desire toward the end of her life was to spend as much time as she could with her family.

Shelly made her confession of faith to her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, at a young age at Christian Assembly under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Farina and followed her  confession of faith with water baptism.  She was currently attending Genoa Baptist Church under Pastor Carl Frank’s leadership.

A memorial service to honor Shelly’s life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Genoa Baptist Church.  All friends and family are invited to attend.
