In loving memory of Sharon Purdie
Sharon (Shari) Elizabeth Purdie passed away on February 6, 2015 after a short but fierce battle with cancer. She was born on December 6, 1983 in Columbus, Ohio.
Although she only had 31 years with us, her zest for life and enthusiasm for adventure allowed her to live life to the fullest. She was a Girl Scout Daisy and Brownie, and a Heritage middle school cheerleader. She traveled and performed in a ballet competition group as a student at Straub Dance during her elementary and middle school years. She graduated from Westerville South High School in 2001 and received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the Ohio State University in 2006. After graduating from OSU, Shari lived in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands for almost two years. Returning to Ohio, she earned her esthetician license and started her own business, Departure Skin Care, in Worthington.
Shari loved her two poodles, Fadle and Falafel. She enjoyed sushi, cooking, reading, the performance arts, winter camping, snow boarding and experiencing other cultures through friendships and travel. Trips included Scandinavia, Europe and China. She also traveled to Japan as a delegate for the Worthington International Friendship Association. Her adventurous spirit led her to try sky diving and the Tough Mudder race, which she completed with her fiancée.
Along with fiancée, Fady Adel Abuayyash of Columbus, Shari is survived by her parents, Mary Purdie and James K. Purdie, both of Westerville, sisters Heather (Justin) Lane, of Westerville, and Lisa Purdie, of Columbus, nieces Brea and Lila Lane, paternal aunt Sharon Purdie, of Westerville and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Shari is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James T. and Phyllis Purdie, maternal grandparents, Charles F. and Lois Earles, cousin Taylor Bates and her beloved poodle, “Bubby”.
Private services will be held. Friends and family wishing to contribute may contact the Kobacker House at Ohio Health Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Kobacker House for their compassionate support and care during the final weeks.
