Rosemary Radcliffe

Rosemary Christine (Welch) Radcliffe, 93, of Columbus, Ohio died peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 in Columbus.

She was born in Shawnee, Ohio in 1930 to the late Claude Martin Welch and Emma Christine (Hahn) Murphy and was raised by her mother in Athens, Ohio. Rosemary graduated from Athens High School, then moved to Columbus and worked for Ohio Bell until her retirement in 1991.

Rosemary is survived by her children, David of Athens County and Susan (Jeff) of Columbus, nieces—Christine and Pam (Sugar Grove) and nephews—James (North Carolina), Thomas, William, David, and Steve (all nieces and nephews are of Logan unless noted otherwise); 18 great nieces and nephews; 31 great, great nieces and great, great nephews; and very dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Michael Radcliffe; four sisters—Dorothy, Maxine, and twins Bernadine and Geraldine; one brother—Claude, Jr. (Dickie); and niece Patricia and nephews Edward, Jr. and Gary.

Rosemary will be remembered for her generosity of time and resources, her genuine care for others, and her quick wit. She loved to travel and visited places all over the world. She used her crochet talents to make many hundreds of items for family, friends, premature babies, and those with physical disabilities.

Rosemary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
