Ronald McKnight

Ronald “Ronnie” McKnight (Squirrel Head), age 61, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on April 6th, 2019. Born to John and Anna McKnight on May 17th, 1957, Ronnie was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by parents John and Anna McKnight, sister Bonnie VanCuren, uncles Sonny, Glen, Ray, Roger, Bud, Bill, aunt Ruby, and grand-dog Blackeye. Ronnie is survived by daughter Amber E McKnight, beloved pilot dog Mitzy, beloved friends Holly and Sam Ross, Heath Heskett, Steven Heskett, Brenda Presley, Bim Strawser, Wayne Strawser, Lil Bim Strawser, and Chrissy Strawser, aunts Shirley, Opal, Maxine, and Cart, nephew John (Judy) Millington, great-nephew John “Boogie” Millington, great-nieces Christina Millington-Straw and McKenzie Millington-Robert.

Ronnie loved to pass his time with a bottle of Black Velvet, fishing, barbecuing, and spending time with his friends and family. He was always the life of the party, no matter what the event you could always count on him to bring a laugh to everyone. Ronnie was crazy about his daughter Amber, he loved her without fail from her first breath to his last. For the last two years he was never without his best friend and pilot dog Mitzy, who will miss him tremendously. Ronnie was also very close with his Mom, and they shared a very special bond. Although he was born and raised here in Columbus, he was a die hard Michigan fan and loved to antagonize his best friend/brother Sam about the rivalry any chance he got. Ronnie was bad to the bone, and will forever remain in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of his life will be held on April 26th, 2019 at the Short North Chapel, 34 W 2nd Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43201. Visitation will be from 6-7 pm, with a Memorial service to begin at 7 pm. Following the services at the funeral home there will be a reception at Ronnie’s favorite bar, The Pub in Gahanna, 207 W Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230.
