Roger Starrett

STARRETT

Roger Charles Starrett, the inventor of the “Back Nine”, 68, of Ladson, SC passed away November 15, 2015.  Roger was born on November 12, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to Chuck and Barbara (Patton) Starrett.  He was a 1965 graduate of Eastmoor High School where he played the saxophone in band.  He received his B.S. in Business from Franklin University.  Roger enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1966 and proudly served our country in the Vietnam War.  Roger recently retired from Boeing in Charleston, SC concluding his longtime career as an Aviation Mechanic.  He is survived by his loving wife, companion, and best friend of almost 20 years, Nancy Williams.  Together they were loyal members of Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek, SC.  Preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Barbara, and brother-in-law Brad McKillip.  He leaves behind his three children, Nicholas C. Starrett of Columbus, Jennifer (David) Gaiser of Reynoldsburg, and Rebecca (Chuck) Crance of Grandview; loyal sister and friend Vicki McKillip of Columbus; brother James (Patricia) Starrett of Gahanna; beloved and adored grandchildren Matthew Starrett, Joey and Violet Crance; and close friend John May.  Roger was filled with enthusiasm and dedication for everything in his life.  Once a Marine, always a Marine.  Semper fidelis.
