Robert Smith

Columbus - Robert E Smith, (Buddy & Bob), 80, died April 22, 2015, at Mount Carmel West Hospital. Visitation begins today, April 25, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home (Short North Chapel). Reverend Jason Parr will be officiating. Service starts at 1:15 p.m.  Robert was born in Portsmouth OH on October 7, 1934, to the late Robert Smith and Virgie Smith. He moved to Columbus in the early 1950s. During his later years, he lived on the west side. Bob was a good friend and father figure to many in his community and will be deeply missed. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and horse racing. He loved his cat, Snowflake.  Robert was formerly employed in the construction industry as a skilled drywall, plaster, and painter with 50 plus years of experience.  Robert is survived by his three children, David E. Smith of Whitehall, OH; Tamie J. Medrano and husband Juan of El Paso, TX; Diana L. Park and husband Donnie of Pataskala, OH; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. His sisters, Joan Sparks and husband Robert; Carol Aeh and husband Gary, both of Portsmouth, OH; nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diana and his sister, Wanda Sampson.
