Robert E. Friend

Robert (Bob) E. Friend, of Columbus, Ohio made his transition into heaven on Wednesday, April 26th 2023 after reaching the age of 74 years old.

Bob was born on February 12th, 1949 in Tarlton, Ohio to Charles and Doris Friend. He was the last living sibling of his eight brothers and sisters. 

Bob was the biggest jokester around. Always teasing those he loved and cared most for. He was an avid sports fanatic, especially when it comes to football, most importantly The Ohio State Buckeyes and The Cleveland Browns. Bob loved to fish, enjoy a good game of poker, and the thrill of scratching lottery tickets. 

In 1961, Little Bob had met the love of his life at 12 years old, who he called “My Mary”. They were together for 61 years. At the age of 18 they decided to commit their lives to each other and have been inseparable for the last 55 years. This September they will mark 56 years together and out of their beautiful marriage they were blessed with three children. 

Bob’s legacy is carried on by his wife, Mary E. Kincaid Friend; Children, Rob (Elysia) Friend, Tina (Jeff) Wallace, Amanda Wallace, As well as Elizabeth Keese, who Bob always considered as one of his own children; Grandchildren, Katie (Randol) Carter, Allie Wallace, Jennifer Wallace, and Matt Wallace; Great Grandchild, Roman Carter; Sisters-in-law Andrea Kincaid Newberry, Melinda Kincaid; nieces and nephews, family, and friends. Special Mentions Mike Wallace, Samantha Dyke, Nick Moriarty and in addition Bob’s loving companion; his dog Baxter.  

This is not a goodbye, but a see you later, he has gone on vacation to go fishing. 

The calling hours are on Wednesday, May 3rd from 4 to 6 p.m. Then the following day Thursday, May 4th from 10 to 11 a.m. will be a viewing following that the service will be from 11 - 12 p.m., gravesite to follow. 

While flowers are welcome, donations would be appreciated to help the cost of the funeral.
