Robert Fortier

Robert (Bob) Fortier, 96, passed away February 1, 2024. He was born in Buffalo, New York to Paul and Jeanette (Glaser) Fortier on June 15, 1927.  He was a past commander with the Swiftwater Power Squadron in Buffalo, NY.  His working career started with PPG Industries Inc. as a District Sales Manager, managing company owned retail stores located in Pittsburgh, PA (22 branches), Buffalo, NY (12 branches) and Columbus, OH (16 branches).  In 1982, PPG began closing all branches in a corporate strategy to use independent distributors.  He became a Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors in Columbus, OH from 1985 – 1987 and moved to Sarasota, FL in 1987 where he became an agent with Coldwell Banker Real Estate from 1990 - 2005.  He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy R. Fortier (Whitcomb), and brother William (Norma) Fortier.  He is survived by his sons, James (Mary) Fortier, Robert Reetz (Leslie Reetz – deceased), granddaughter Rebecca (Andrew) Grimes and great grandchildren Ella, Alexander, Landon, niece Marilyn S. Troglauer, and great niece Lisa Dolan.  He will be greatly missed.
