Robert Nelson Comerford

June 19, 1976 — May 27, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the untimely passing of Robert Nelson Comerford, aged 47, who left us on May 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was a beloved husband to Tenielle (Thompson) Comerford, a devoted father to Olivia (16) and Griffin (13), a cherished son to Michael and Maureen (Catanzaro) Comerford, a caring brother to Kelly (Jim) Lapsley, Michael (Lorie), Jill, brother-in-law Trevor (Erika) Thompson and a wonderful uncle “unke” to Lauren, Jimmy, Michael, Brendan, Aislinn, Dani and Trevor.

Born on June 19, 1976, in Buffalo, New York, Bobby grew up with a passion for life that was evident to all who knew him. From a young age, he displayed an unwavering love for soccer, playing throughout his school years. After graduating from Amherst College, Bobby enjoyed a career in software sales and marketing and kept in close contact with his college friends and work colleagues. His enthusiasm for soccer was only matched by his fervent support for the Buffalo Bills, a team he followed with zeal, celebrating their victories and standing by them through every season.

Bobby was the kind of guy who could make you laugh with his quick wit and humor, transforming even the dullest moments into episodes of pure sitcom gold.

Bobby loved his home in New Albany, Ohio and at times could be found outside, in the driveway, chatting with anyone who passed by. He was the neighborhood's unofficial welcome committee, always ready with a joke, a smile, and the latest gossip, which he dispensed with the skill of a seasoned diplomat.

Bobby's love for conversation wasn't confined to the driveway. He was a master of the long-distance call, keeping in touch with friends and family from coast to coast. His phone calls were events in themselves—marathon sessions that could easily last for hours, filled with laughter, advice, and the occasional serenade.

And let's not forget Bobby's legendary Irish goodbyes. He was the Houdini of social gatherings, able to disappear from a party without a trace, leaving everyone wondering, "Did Bobby leave?" His ability to slip away unnoticed became one of his most talked-about talents, always leaving his friends and family chuckling once they realized he'd pulled another vanishing act.

Bobby's legacy is one of joy, laughter, and the kind of memories that have us chuckling through our tears. He's left us with a treasure trove of 'Bobby moments' that we'll replay for years to come, each one a testament to the man who could find the funny in the mundane and remind us all not to take life too seriously. From his driveway diplomacy to his coast-to-coast conversations and his masterful Irish goodbyes, Bobby's spirit of fun and friendship will forever light up our hearts.

Bobby’s most cherished memories were made while basking in the warm sun by the poolside in Scottsdale, Arizona, surrounded by his family. His love for the serene and luxurious oasis, where laughter filled the air and time seemed to stand still, was evident to all who knew him. The tranquil waters and picturesque sunsets of Scottsdale were his true happy place, a sanctuary where he found joy and peace.

As we mourn the loss of Bobby, we also celebrate his life and the joy he brought into our lives. He will be profoundly missed by his wife, children, parents, siblings, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bobby’s legacy will live on through his family, the stories shared among friends, and in the hearts of everyone he touched.

A mass will be held in August and a private burial will be planned for the family.  For those wishing to express their condolences, we invite you to share your memories and stories of Bobby through this online tribute page. Your thoughts and reflections are a comfort to the family during this time.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.
