Richard W. Smith II "Ric", 62, resident of Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully at home on May 11, 2018. After studying classical viola at LSU, he combined his love of life and his passion for music as a means of providing joy and inspiration to all. Whether performing, working with students, or rebuilding violins at the Loft, he had an infectious passion that was easy to catch. Ric was loved and respected in the music community, both locally and around the world. Preceded in death by father R.W. Smith. Survived by wife, Donna; mother, Mary P.; daughters, Taylor (Scott) and Allie (Adam); grandchildren, Roean, Selah, Leven, Fenit and Aiden; brother, Mark; and in-laws, nieces and nephews of the Tribbie Tribe. Graduate of Lima Senior high school and Louisiana State University and member of the Shamrock Club. Services will be held at Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes, Clintonville Chapel, 4341 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43214. Visitation will be held May 21 from 4:30-6:30pm. Contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital Cancer Services.
