On Friday Rebecca lost her battle with cancer and passed away with her loving family by her side. Rebecca was a Systems Analyst for Nationwide and worked long hours solving technology problems that could impact their customer’s service. Co-workers, friends, neighbors, and family will always remember her laughter and wonderful sense of humor. She was the go to person if you needed to organize an event and she was a master at multi-tasking. She rarely told anyone no and gave up hours of sleep to get everything done. Christmas will never be the same without her homemade peanut brittle. At home she had a gift for locating lost objects and opening tightly sealed jars or containers. Nothing stopped her, as she got weaker she continued to clean or do yard work including cleaning the kitchen floor at 3 AM or doing yard work when nobody was around so they would not catch her. She was such a giving person. Her last wish was to donate her rare tumors to research with the hope the doctors could find treatments to save the lives of other. Her son and husband were the loves of her life which made it difficult for her to accept she was losing her 12 year battle with multiple episodes of cancer. As you know many would classify her as a workaholic and type A personality. We know she will stay busy trying to guide us from heaven but her physical work here is done. Rest in peace, we will always love you. She is preceded in death by her mother Marjorie “Marge” Wetherill. Rebecca is survived by Tom Rodriguez, husband; Tyler Rodriguez, son; Warren (Joyce) Wetherill, father; David Wetherill, brother; Charles Wetherill, brother; Ann (Richard) Riley, sister; five nieces and nephews; and 6 grand-nieces and nephews. Per Rebecca’s wishes a celebration of life will be held Saturday July 8th in Iowa where Rebecca grew up and where many of her family members and friends still live.
