Rebecca Compton

Rebecca "Becky" Rozella (Roberts) Compton entered into rest on February 8, 2017. She was born on February 20, 1959 to Roy Lee Roberts Sr. and Iva Jane (Carder) Roberts. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jack and Arthur Roberts, sisters, Margaret Collins and Montie Mashburn.  She is survived by her husband, William Compton Sr.; children, Evelyn Jane Perkey, William Compton Jr.(Amanda) and Virginia Compton; Step-children, Sherry Marie, Teresa Ann, and Robin Lynn; two brothers, Roy Lee Roberts Jr. (Chris), Clifton Roberts (Cindy). Grandchildren Angel and Joseph Compton, William and MJ Perkey, Nikki and Katherine Lally, and Francesca Compton. As well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family members.

Becky was a kind hearted, loving and nurturing woman. She cared deeply for her family, and showed it in countless ways daily. She always put everyone else first, and took no thought to how it might impact her own health. Her greatest joy was being able to help her family, and spend time with her grandchildren, of whom she loved deeply. She had a way of making people feel loved and needed. She loved visiting her family and traveled every opportunity she could to do so. She loved country, bluegrass, and gospel music. She enjoyed fishing from both the bank and from a boat. She attended Limestone Church of the Brethren with her family when she visited TN.

Becky was diagnosed three years ago with lung cancer and fought a long, hard battle. She showed great strength and courage during this time. She always remained optimistic and never gave up hope. Right to the very end, she fought hard. She entered into rest with her family by her side, holding her hand. She was an inspiration to us all, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to donate to the church.

A service will be held at Holy Angels and Saints Catholic Church 4120 Indianola Ave. on Sunday February 19th at 4:00 pm.
