Quentin M Derryberry II

January 15, 1943 — November 29, 2024

Dublin

Quentin Martin Derryberry II, age 81 of Dublin and Sidney, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday November 29, 2024, surrounded by his children. He was born on January 15, 1943, at Fort Jackson Military base in South Carolina and was raised in Lima, Ohio. He graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1961. He earned his undergraduate degree from Universidad de las Americas, Mexico City, in International Affairs in 1966 and went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from Ohio Northern University in 1970. Quentin practiced law for over five decades. He was a member of the Allen County, Auglaize County, and Shelby County Bar Associations. He was engaged in his community in many ways including serving on the board of directors for the Lima Noon Optimist Club, serving as Chairman of the National Foundation March of Dimes, Allen County chapter, as a member of the Jaycees civic organization, and he volunteered for the Allen County Sherriff’s Office Mounted Posse Unit. Outside of his legal career, his early interests included snow skiing, piloting airplanes, enjoying music, and attending the many activities of his children. Later in life, he enjoyed the company of his fourteen fun-loving grandchildren. He lived on his own terms, and his motto in life was, “I’m Going to Live until I Die.” He was called “stubborn” at times, but he always made the lighthearted correction that he preferred to be known as “tenacious”, and THAT, he was! Quentin’s absence leaves an unmistakable void to all who know him. He is survived by his children: Misty (Alphonse) Derryberry-Wieging, Quentin (David) Derryberry III, Ryan (Kari) Derryberry, Justin (Abigail) Derryberry, Gavin (Jennifer) Derryberry, and Ethan Derryberry, along with his grandchildren and three siblings: Gail Derryberry, Jon (Robin) Derryberry, and Joan (Ray) Derryberry. He is preceded in death by his biological mother Virginia Owens Derryberry, his loving parents Quentin Sr. and Josephine Derryberry, his brother Wayne Derryberry and his eldest child July Derryberry Tomasi. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025 from 1-4pm at the American Legion Post 330 Annex Hall located at 214 S. Wagner Ave, Wapakoneta, OH 45895. His final resting place will be in Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, in the Owens family plot, where a small private ceremony will take place.
