Perry Simpkins, age 57 passed away in his home under the care of Gentiva Hospice, surrounded by his family after a 5+ year battle from renal cancer.
He is preceded by his parents, Allan and Lorena Simpkins.
Perry is survived by: his wife - Sandra, daughter - Juliane (Casper), son - Conlan, mother-in-law - Eva, brother - Michael, 2 sisters (Pam and Judy), sister-in-law - Sheryl, brother-in-law - Ryan and many nieces and nephews.
Perry is a graduate of The Ohio State University and is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). Perry met his wife at The Ohio State University.
Perry loved his wife and children, the outdoors (woods, rivers and hills), cooking and reading. Perry was of Baptist faith.
Despite Perry’s illness he pushed himself to remain active with his family and in 2024, Perry: hiked 2-4 miles daily in neighborhood and hiking trails, practiced archery, swam, canoed, lifted weights, played with his dog and cat, watched the birds and squirrels, and enjoyed sitting around an outside fire.
Perry’s dream was to semi-retire in 2027 to his wooded property in Hocking Hills with his wife and pets (dog and cat), where they would build a small cabin, enjoy the outdoors, and visit his/their children. His wife plans to fulfill his dreams.
Perry’s prior employment includes Nationwide Mutual Insurance as a Mutual Fund Analyst, and City of Columbus, Public Utilities as a Financial Analyst.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Perry’s life at Shaw Davis Funeral Home, 34 W. 2nd Ave. Columbus, OH on Tuesday, February 18, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Friends can join Perry’s family for graveside services at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 351 Coonpath Road NE, Lancaster, OH on Wednesday, February 19, at 10:00 am.
Perry’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Ohio Health, James Cancer Hospital, and Gentiva Hospice.
Perry was courageous, spirited, and adventurous. Perry will always be remembered for his strength, strong will, perseverance and intellectual curiosity.
