Pete Dee Metzger
June 29, 1947 — March 16, 2024
Paul Dee "Pete" Metzger passed away on March 16, 2024. Pete was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1947 and grew up in St. Clairsville, OH. Pete was a 1965 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and served as a Pharmacy Technician in the U.S. Air Force from 1967-1971. He graduated from Otterbein College in 1985 with a degree in Business Administration.
Pete was an automotive enthusiast and loved following racing, especially sports cars and open-wheel events. He attended Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course every season for nearly 50 years and enjoyed visiting other tracks. His hero was Dan Gurney.
Some say he "never met a stranger." Pete loved animals, beer, ice cream, politics, Ohio State Women's Hockey, and music from the 1960s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jeanne, as well as his sister, Sydney. He is survived by his nephews, Paul and Erich; long-time partner, Rebecca Kerewsky, and many friends.
Pete did not want a formal service. A celebration of his life is forthcoming, so please be thinking of "Pete Stories." There are a lot of them.
