CORBETT

Odessa Virginia Corbett, devoted Mother and Caregiver.  Odessa (Dessa) Virginia Corbett, 84, went to be with the Lord on September 25, at her home in Columbus, Ohio.  Dessa was born on March 1st, 1931, in Moultrie, Ga., to Damon and Lottie Fears.  After graduating from high school, Dessa attended Albany State College in Albany Georgia.  Like so many during the Jim Crow era, she migrated north for growth and opportunity, and this is where she met and married Howard D. Corbett. Dessa worked @ Children Hospital, and for the City of Columbus as a Nursing Assistant, providing home health care.  Dessa and Howard had 3 boys, Danny Lee, Ronald and Donald.  Dessa loved so many things: Shaq & Kobe Bryant - Lakers -  (We never understood why), Antiques, Fishing, Caring for her Mother & Grandmother, the  Chickens/Ducks/and other Critters our father brought to the house, her dog Poo, and Serving the Lord.  She opened her home to so many: Relatives, Friends, and Friends of Friends.  All in an effort do what God would have her to do. (The act of Caregiving) Dessa was proceeded in death by her husband Howard, son Danial (wife Ursula), granddaughter Kimberly.  Dessa is survived by her children Don (wife Sandra), Ron (wife Deirdra), Big Donald (wife Barbara), Grandchildren, Danny II-DJ, Latia, Tiffany, Tracey, Terra, Sherri, Temple, Onrayia, Carmen, Naashon, and a multitude of Great Grandchildren.  Visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2015 – 11am viewing followed by a 12 noon service @ Tabernacle Baptist Church, located @ 2188 Woodward Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43219
