Norman Gene Graham

Norman Gene Graham (Doodle), 96, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home on March 29, 1926 in Piketon, Ohio to Scott and Marie Graham. One month after graduating from Piketon High School, Norm enlisted in the 83rd Division, 329th Infantry Regiment Company of the United States Army. As a member of the greatest generation, he proudly served from June 1944 to June 1946. Norman was sent to various countries and was engaged in a number of battles, including the Battle of the Bulge.

On April 23, 1949 Norm married the love of his life, Mary Jane Fitzsimmons. They were married for 60 years when Mary Jane passed away in 2009. Surviving Norm is Barbara Milliron of Findlay, Norman (Cindy) Graham II of Toledo, Jeffrey (Tami) Graham of Columbus; grandchildren Nicholas (Laura) Milliron of Findlay, Jacob Graham of Columbus, Skyler Graham of Columbus; great-grandchildren Graham, Makenna and Hudson Milliron of Findlay; and long time friends the entire Wright and Nutter families. Norm was predeceased by his brothers James Gerald and John; sisters Mary Ruth Reid and Anna Lou Noel; and son-in-law C.A. Milliron.

Norman was an avid Ohio State fan, cheering on the Buckeyes in all sports, but especially in football. He also enjoyed playing cards and a great game of pool. Norm’s love of baseball was evident through his many years of coaching youth baseball. Additionally, Norm was a talented builder and the guy people would count on to help out with neighborhood projects. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family in any way he could including sporting events, birthday parties, and holiday gatherings.

Family will receive friends for viewing at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home Clintonville Chapel, 4341 N. High St., Columbus from 10:00 to 11:00 am on January 27, 2023. Funeral services will begin at 11:00. Burial with full military honors will be at the Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Rd. in Columbus.
