Mike passed away at home from a sudden medical emergency at the age of 63 and is now experiencing the joy of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Two of Mike’s great passions were capturing nature through a camera lens and treasuring his many friends. Preceded in death by his parents Jack and Lois Flynn. Survived by sister Paula (Randy) Eddy and brother John (Amber) Flynn along with a niece, nephew and great-nieces. Mike lived in the enjoyment of all things in nature and his photography and birding friends. Graduated from OSU with a degree in environmental interpretation. Held leadership positions at Columbus Audubon for over three decades, and for most of his life was involved in various ways with the Columbus Metroparks system. Spent many years helping customers from his retail and management positions and ownership in camera stores and his time at Wild Birds Unlimited locations. Participated in numerous photography exhibitions including Ameriflora, and we will find examples of his work in various places locally like the Ohio History Connection. He enjoyed being an instructor and taking people on birding field trips near and far and giving presentations of his photographic work. He could give you an answer for any question about the natural world and dearly loved playing softball. A gentle soul, he cared deeply for all of his friends and acquaintances and folks from church who looked out for him. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday June 12th at Beechwold Christian Church, 280 Morse Rd, Columbus Ohio 43214. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. Arrangements by Shaw-Davis Funeral Home.
