Meredith Hughes, age 89, passed away at Kobacker House on Thursday, March 2, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Grace Smallwood, Edna and Jim (McNabb) and Irv (Herron), husband Kenneth W. Hughes, brothers Ormand, Bob, Harold, Bernard and sisters Lucille, Jane, Mary and Betty Jo. She is survived by daughter Grace, granddaughter Amanda (Kyle) McClafferty, great granddaughters Stella, Molly, many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of University Baptist Church and former president of the United Christian Center at The Ohio State University. Meredith was known for her sharp wit, lifelong pursuit of knowledge and generous hospitality. A Memorial service will be held at University Baptist Church, 50 W Lane Avenue on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 9:30 am till the time of the service. Donations can be made to University Baptist Church or Kobacker House.
