In Loving Memory of Matthew David Everitt.
Millersport lost one of its most cherished residents on July 24, 2023, as Matthew David Everitt passed away, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 3, 1984, to Dave and Kathy Everitt, who were lucky to have him as a son for over 39 years. Matt was a wonderful big brother to Chad, and he lived a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to all of his family and friends.
Matt found his calling as a nurse, which put his caring and selfless nature to their best use. He changed the lives of countless patients, leaving a lasting mark on the hearts of those he cared for.
Outside of work, Matt was a devoted husband and father. He found his greatest joy in the loving arms of his wife, Samantha. They shared a partnership anyone would wish could be their own. They challenged each other, laughed and cried together, supported one another, and built a life they could be proud of. They created a loving home for their children, Olivia, Owen, Piper, Baya, and Makenna. As a family, they shared endless memories of beach vacations, camping trips, days at Buckeye Lake, along with early mornings and late nights hunting. Matt loved his family to the moon and back, and told them so often. He found endless pride and happiness in watching his children grow and flourish.
Sports held a special place in Matt's heart. He was an all-state baseball player, a devout Ohio State fan, and a coach to many young players. Through coaching, he imparted not only his knowledge of the games he loved, but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. He was a mentor in every sense of the word, leaving an impression on the lives of his players that will endure for many generations to come.
More than anything, Matt will be remembered for his selflessness and loyalty as a friend. You could count on him to show up lend a helping hand whenever you needed one. His unwavering support and love touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his life, Matt taught us that kindness is free, it's better to smile, and Maverick was the best. In his passing, we have all lost our wingman, but we can continue his legacy of love, compassion and friendship. His absence will be deeply felt by the community, but he'll live on through the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to call him a husband, father, son, brother, colleague, coach, or friend.
Rest in peace, Matt, and watch over us. Know that your kindness and love will always be felt by the lives of those you left behind. Your memory will forever be cherished, and we'll always feel your spirit by our sides. We love you to the moon and back.
