Mary Shively

Mary Catherine (Kay) Shively, age 97, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Wesley Glen Retirement Community in Columbus, OH. Mary K was born May 2, 1920 in Edison, OH. Her family later moved to Marion, OH where she graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1938. After graduating, Mary K moved to Columbus where she attended Capital University, and then went to work at The Ohio State University. There she met the love of her life, Bruce (Bud) Shively. They were married January 26, 1946 after Bruce returned from WWII, and enjoyed 53 years together until his death in 1999. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Irma (Kline) Greenfield, and her four siblings.
Mary K loved her family very much and was proud of each and every one. She also loved her church, where throughout the years she served as a Sunday School teacher, Deaconess and Elder. She was a member of the Clintonville Women's Club and many Bridge clubs. She also loved shopping, cooking and traveling all over the world. Mary K always had a kind word for every person she met. Always with a smile, Mary K would just light up a room. She had a beautiful way of making people feel happy and comfortable.
Mary K leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three children, Patricia (Philip) Bougher, William Shively and Sue (Dean) Hardesty, her nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Bougher, Thomas (Tricia) Bougher, John (Emily) Bougher, Eliza (Josh) Hines, Ezra Shively, Eissa (Nick) Bonamo, Emily (Nathan) Clark, Jenna Hardesty and Kirsten Hardesty, and twelve Great Grandchildren. On Tuesday, October 24, 2017 there will be a private graveside service with Carol Bogaards officiating, followed by a celebration of life for Mary K's family and friends at Crestview Presbyterian Church, 350 Tulane Rd. in Clintonville from noon to 1:30 PM.
