Mary Lou DelBianco

May 8, 1940 — February 22, 2023

Mary Lou DelBianco, 82, of Galena, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023.  She was born May 8th, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA to Catherine and Adrian Bowers.

Mary Lou was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, friend, co-worker and neighbor.  She was devoted to her family and regularly put their needs before her own.  She took great pleasure in doing little things for the people she loved.   Things like sending a birthday card, baking someone their favorite pie or just calling them to see how they were.  That was how she showed you she loved you.  Her kindness and natural desire to put others first rewarded her with lasting friendships from high school, neighborhoods where she lived (past & present) and the different places where she worked.

She was naturally outgoing and liked talking with people.   She could strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and become friendly with them in a matter of minutes.  She had a  terrific memory and could instantly recall details about friends and acquaintances that she hadn't seen in years.  She was kind, genuine, thoughtful, honest and funny.  Someone who was real easy to talk to.

She was an avid bird lover and enjoyed taking care of the many birds that visited her backyard.  She was especially fond of humming birds and bluebirds.  She also looked forward to the arrival of the chrysalises, which she watched over until they hatched into butterflies.

Mary Lou loved to cook and bake for her family, friends and neighbors.  Making someone's favorite food was her way of showing them how much she cared about them.  She was very proud of her pies, especially her apple pie.   She also took pride in  her homemade spaghetti sauce which she made using vegetables and herbs from her garden.  That sauce was the secret ingredient for her famous homemade pizza.

She enjoyed talking about current events and other things in the news, but the one topic she was most passionate about was politics.

Mary Lou worked as bookkeeper for a number of businesses including BAP Geon, Midwest Allergy and Buckeye Builders.  Just like everything else she did in life, she was meticulous and worked hard to make sure her books were the best they could be.  She also worked at Pitney Bowes as a service call representative.  She made many friends at Pitney Bowes, it was her most favorite place to work.

She was married to her husband Daniel DelBianco for 59 years.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, her daughter Dianna DelBianco, her sisters JoAnn Bowers, Una Madey, Josephine Hopkins and brother John Bowers.  She is survived by her husband Daniel DelBianco, sons Steven DelBianco and David DelBianco, daughter-in-law Dawn DelBianco, grandchildren Julian Hooks, Kathryn DelBianco, Olivia DelBianco and Sophia DelBianco.  Sisters Anna Lubash, Ava Eyth and Eva Fitzgerald as well as brother Robert Bowers.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbors.
