Macophene Hale

January 7, 1934 — June 24, 2018

Macophene Hardwick Hale was born January 7, 1934 in Tupelo Mississippi to Mattie Bullard Hardwick and Charles Mack Hardwick. She was one of thirteen children. Seven proceeded her in death, Herbert Hardwick, Millie Jean Hardwick Crowe, Jack Hardwick, Tommy Hardwick, David Hardwick, Truman Hardwick and Drusella Hardwick. Surviving siblings are Betty Hardwick Wilemon, Mary Jane Hardwick, Joe Hardwick, Ann Hardwick Whitfield and Susie Hardwick Lambert.

In November 27, 1951 Macophene married Paul Matthew Hale Jr. and she remained married until his death in 2004. They were married for 53 years. They had three sons, Steven Matthew Hale, Terry Jerome Hale and Jeffery Mack Hale. Steve passed away in 2003 and he was married to Irene Lorenzo Hale.

Macophene has five grandchildren, Rowena Hale Heck, Roy Hale, Stephanie Hale Rorke, Jennifer Hale, Paul Matthew Hale IV and ten great grandchildren, Michael Heck, Jared Heck, Zoe Hale, Quinn Hale, Stephan Wylie, Eden Rorke, Harry Rorke, Addie Rorke, Hendrix Hale and Oliver Hale. They were much loved by their grandmother.

Macophene retired as a nurse’s aide but she also worked for Ford Motor Company and was a pipe fitter for Inland-Shultz Manufactured Homes. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.

When Macophene was a child she dreamed of living in other places. In her early years of her marriage she lived on Whitby Island, Washington and in Chicago, Illinois. From Chicago she moved back to Mississippi and from there she moved to Michigan. She lived in Michigan for 35 years and 28 of those years she lived in Tecumseh, Michigan. From Tecumseh, Michigan she moved to Columbus, Ohio where she passed away.

After the death of her husband Paul she met and had a relationship with Gary Burton. They were together until her death. In the over ten years of their relationship they had traveled, enjoyed dancing and going to church together.

Macophene was a caring person who loved her family and friends. She will be greatly missed… Rest in peace dear one.
