Crawford, Lugenia
Lugenia Williams Crawford, much-loved aunt, of siblings: Tonda, Rhonda, Stephen and Michael, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on March 6, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born April 23, 1929 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, to Jesse and Emma (Warner) Williams. She was one of nine children (all who have preceded her in death): Jesse, Robert, Lucy, Howard, James, Zella, Edith, and Charles. After her parents died, she went to live with her grandmother, Louella Douglas (along with Lucy and Zella). She married William Crawford (who was in the military) on May 2, 1952 in Jefferson, Indiana. She had a beloved daughter, Brenda Simpson (12/13/45- 2/6/2003), and is survived by a cherished son, Ricky Crawford. Lugenia also leaves to remember and honor her life: Antione Heady, a grandson she raised; numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and church familie s, and special friends including Lisa Parham, Shawn Marshall, and Joan Lyons. She spent much of her life as a cook/housekeeper for the Ott family. (She made delicious pies!!) She was a faithful member of Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church, Louisville, KY, taking Bible classes, as well as teaching Sunday School. While living in Columbus, Ohio, she attended Christian Center. She was a foster grandparent, loved Wii bowling, attended Bible Study, loved daycare, and enjoyed getting her nails done. She loved, loved, loved her family, friends, and the Lord! “Blessed by the best!!!!!” The family would like to thank Grace Hospice and Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, Columbus, OH. The family would also like to thank all those wonderful individuals in both Kentucky and Ohio, who have reached out with love, prayers, cards, and condolences. Memorial Services will be held in both Columbus, Ohio (a private memorial with family and friends) and in Louisville, KY at Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church (the date to be determined).
