Lowell Edward Smith, age 82 of Shawnee Hills, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 2, 2024. Lowell was born to Orville and Juanita (Jean) Smith on May 8, 1942, in Columbus. Lowell finished high school while in the Navy. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. On August 13, 1960, he married Judy Ann Martin and they had two daughters and a son. Lowell had a successful business career. He began his rise with Lehn & Fink as a Sales Representative, moving to District Manager, then to Regional Sales Manager, and finally elevating to National Sales Manager. His salesmanship and outgoing personality was recognized by his leadership team who promoted him to Vice President of Sales for Glenbrook Laboratories. Lowell later joined Alcon Laboratories as Director of Sales and Marketing. In 1988, Lowell decided to leave the corporate life and return to Ohio to start Martin-Smith & Associates (later MSA Group) with his family. Lowell loved work, he always was creating proposals and working on spreadsheets. He had a passion for leading and inspiring people by example. Lowell’s entrepreneur spirit had him starting additional businesses after MSA until he was sidelined with Pulmonary Fibrosis, which required him to receive a lung transplant in 2009. He amazingly outlived the 5 year life expectancy for lung transplants by 10 years. Lowell loved his wife and children as well as his extended family. He brightened the room with his wit and jokes. Lowell is survived by his wife Judy, his daughters; Robin (Matt) and Kellie (Jeff), his grandchildren, Christopher, Heather (Bo), Jeffrey (Krista), Kendall (Zack), Keegan, Evan, Ethan, Abi, great grandchildren; Chloe, Gavin, Nolan and Rhett, his sisters; Betty, Suzie (Bill), Nina, and Debbie, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Bradley. A ceremony to celebrate Lowell's life will be held on Monday, October 7th at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Road, Dublin, OH. Service at 4pm, with a gathering following at the Hoover’s house: 8210 Timber Mist Ct., Dublin, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Donate Life Ohio, in honor of Lowell’s lung transplant that extended his life by over 15 years.
