Lloyd Edison Fisher, Jr., of Columbus, died at Ohio Health Hospice's Kobacker House on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Born on October 23, 1923, in Medina, Ohio, he was the eldest son of Wanda Iona White Fisher and Lloyd Edison Fisher, Sr. Lloyd was awarded a Stadium Cooperative Scholarship at The Ohio State University, but his college years were interrupted by World War II. He served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of staff sergeant, and engaged in combat in Europe, followed by occupation duty in Japan. He then returned to OSU to complete his undergraduate degree and graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of its law review publication, the Ohio State Law Journal.

Lloyd began his legal career with Ohio's Department of Taxation, before electing to become a trust officer with the Huntington National Bank. He subsequently joined the Columbus law firm then known as Alexander, Ebinger, Wenger & Holschuh, and was later made a partner and served as chair of its executive committee; in 1986, Alexander, Ebinger, Fisher & Lawrence merged with Porter Wright Morris & Arthur.  After practicing law for nearly 63 years, Lloyd retired in from the firm in 2013, shortly before his 90th birthday. An invited Fellow of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel, Lloyd taught courses in post-mortem estate planning and administration for the OSU Law School and was a frequent lecturer on estate planning for professional, community, and philanthropic audiences.

Lloyd was a longtime, active member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church; a founding member of the Council on Development for the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church and was instrumental in establishing a robust pension program for retired clergy.  He was on the boards of, and an enthusiastic volunteer for, a number of other organizations;  Kobacker House became one of his special passions.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Twylla Peterson Fisher; his later companion, Dorothy (Dottie) Ebright; and his brother, Thomas White Fisher.  His surviving family members include his children, Karen Fisher McGee and Kirk Peterson Fisher (wife Laura MacDonald); his grandchildren, Amber Leigh MacDonald-Fisher Cutler (husband Justin Cutler) and Michael Parnell McGee;  his three great-grandchildren Keagan, Tate, and Beckett Cutler;  and his brother Tom's partner, Robert G. Eaton.;  also his surrogate daughter, Sherry Ebright Castle (Dottie’s daughter).  A Memorial Service at Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 7 West Henderson Road, Columbus OH 43214, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2016.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lloyd’s memory may be made to Ohio Health Foundation (Kobacker House), 180 E.
