Linda Ann Eaton McComb, 77, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Danbury Senior Living in Westerville, Ohio.
She was born on January 12, 1948, in Washington, D.C., and was the first daughter of the late Carl Eaton and Dorthy (Jackson) Coe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dawn Johnson.
Linda’s life was filled with adventure and love from a young age when her family moved to Denver, Colorado. There, she met the love of her life, Dan, a proud member of the Air Force from Glenford, Ohio. Their love story carried them to Okinawa, Japan, where Linda showcased her skills in telecommunications on the military base—a true testament to her adaptability and spirit. After Dan’s military service ended, they returned to the states and started a family, first in Ohio, then in Pennsylvania, and eventually settling permanently in central Ohio near where Dan was born. They were both devoted members of Lutheran churches in each location, leaning heavily on their faith during any of life’s trials, always there to comfort a family member or a friend in need.
She is survived by her loving husband Dan McComb, sons Aaron (Hilary) McComb and Jason McComb, daughter Alexis (Bryan) Steffee, grandchildren Aric Brandell, Autumn McComb, Ian McComb, Alaina McComb, Timothy Steffee and Elisheva Steffee, and her sisters Sharon Post and Alicia Gould.
Those who knew Linda, knew her as a devoted mother and an artist at heart. She helped support her family over the years in various office roles ranging from bookkeeping to insurance to office management, but she always had as her primary focus raising, supporting and loving her children in all stages of their lives. She was also never without a sketch pad, and there was no artistic medium she wouldn’t dig into and try to master. From drawing, painting, floral design, wedding cake decorating, sewing or photography, you name it - she would create it.
As reflected in the poignant words of one of Linda’s favorite authors, Khalil Gibran: "The mother is everything—she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness."
Linda’s embrace of life, love and community will echo in our hearts forever. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who touched our lives indelibly.
The cremation has been handled with care by the Shaw-Davis Funeral Home.
