Linda Kay (Meyers) Gaskell, born October 2, 1942, passed peacefully at home in Columbus, Ohio on August 26, 2023 at the age of 80.
Born October 2, 1942 in Meyersdale, PA, she was the youngest child of the late Albert and Minvera (Paul) Meyers. She is preceded in death by her siblings - one brother and three sisters.
Linda was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing (1963). She was a committed healthcare professional and dedicated time to a behavioral health unit early in her nursing career before moving into administration at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville, Peer Review Systems in Columbus, Riverside Methodist Hospital and most recently Grant Medical Center, before her retirement in 2008.
Linda will be remembered by her family for her wonderful cooking, interest in gardening, fun travel adventures with her family, and her no-nonsense view of the world. Her love for travel took her to many domestic and international destinations, usually with a beach. One exception was regular trips to New York City to see the latest Broadway shows. In recent years Linda enjoyed golf, book club, gathering with neighbors and Otterbein University summer theater.
If you met Linda, you experienced her strength and independence balanced by compassion. She was quick to help others and frequently opened her home to family, friends and neighbors.
Linda is survived by her daughter Susan (Scott), son David (Karen), grandchildren Natalie, Charlie, Sammie and former husband, James R. Gaskell MD.
While there will be no local service, if you wish to do something in memory of Linda, the family suggests that you take that trip, golf with your friends, see a play, take a grandchild to the zoo, or enjoy a new restaurant. If you wish to do something further, consider a donation to the OhioHealth Foundation.
