Laura Sue Williams

Miss Laura Sue Williams departed this life for eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Laura was born on December 13, 1944 in West Union, WV. She was dedicated to her profession in nursing, receiving a nursing certificate from Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, then later completing a Bachelor’s degree in nursing at West Virginia University and her Master’s in nursing from the Ohio State University. Laura taught nursing for decades to students at Columbus State University.

Besides her devotion to her nursing career, Laura was committed to her church, the Church of Christ on Fishinger Road. Laura volunteered in many aspects of the church as long as she could.

Although Laura never had children of her own, she was very involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews, as well as her great nieces and nephews. She was always prepared to listen and give advice. She was supportive throughout the ups and downs of life.

Laura also was a natural caregiver. She was always helping those in need, whether family, friends, or church members. She cared for many people through sickness with compassion that exemplified her Christian faith.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Olive (McKinney) Williams of West Union, WV as well as her brothers Rowan and Randy Williams and sister Esther Hyre. She is survived by 7 nephews and nieces, 11 grand nephews and nieces, and 7 great-grand nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 5 at 11 am at Shaw Davis Clintonville Chapel. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be later in West Union, WV.
