Larry Spears, born on July 21, 1950, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at the OSU James Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 74 years old.
Larry was a man of many talents and a heart full of love. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Valrie Spears. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and countless memories.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Homer Spears.
Larry's legacy lives on through his surviving children: Chris(Denise), Garth(Jennifer), Tavia(James) and Clayton. Larry is survived by his remarkable mother, Jeaneanne Spears, aged 94, who continues to inspire and nurture her family with her strength and grace. He is also survived by his brothers, Scott and Randy.
Larry leaves behind a cherished legacy in his grandchildren: Jaden, Nevaeha, Kodi, Sophia, Akiya, Gunner, Layla, Jessie, Gabriel, and Gannon. Each brought immense joy to his life and will carry forward his love and spirit.
A proud Marine, Larry served his country with honor and dedication, embodying the values of courage and loyalty throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held on September 7, 12-4pm at Thompson Park Shelter house at 4250 Woodbridge Rd, Upper Arlington. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the OSU James Cancer Research Hospital.
