Stokes, Karen Ann, age 66, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. She was born on June 29, 1951 to the late Howard and Mildred(Wolfel) Stokes in Columbus, Ohio. A Sargent in the United States Army, she became a linguist for the Army Security Agency and assigned to Germany. As a civilian, Karen worked for the Department of Defense at the National Security Agency and retired after 37 years. Known as a traveler, art lover and “foodie”, she always appreciated other cultures and experienced new things without hesitation. Her life motto was “whatever you do, large or small, make a difference”. And that she did. She is survived by many family and friends made around the world and at the Dublin Retirement, Stone Oak and Wesley Glen communities. She will be missed mostly by her best friend and companion, Maggie, her toy poodle. Family and friends may visit 6-8pm, Thursday, May 10, at the Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, 4341 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214. A funeral mass will begin at 10am on Friday, May 11, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 East Dominion Blvd
Columbus, OH 43214. Cremation and burial will be a later date with a private ceremony.
