Karen S. Lanning of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Abbington of Arlington Assisted Living Facility.
She was born on October 22, 1944 to Ralph & Edna Six in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Central High School in 1962. She went on to raise five children as a single parent (that was not an easy task - trust us, we are her kids and some of us were “difficult”. I won’t mention any names, but it was the boys that tried to dig a swimming pool in the backyard). She put herself through business school and remained an active parent. She was a room mother, a Boy Scout Den Mother, one of the first women Den Masters, and a Girl Scout Leader.
She is survived by her children Sherry Lanning, Wesley (Kristen) Lanning, Ralph Lanning, Dorothy Lowery (Steve Georgas), and Mollie (Mike) Caldwell, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, Mike Six and her parents, Ralph & Edna Six.
We would like to give special thanks to the staff of Vitas Hospice and Abbington of Arlington Assisted Living Facility for the care that she was given. An extra special thanks to Shawn at Abbington of Arlington who treated her like family and goes above and beyond in his care of residents.
