Judith Sands

Judith Louise (Scott) Sands, 76, of Columbus, Ohio died March 17, 2018 in Los Angeles, California. Born April 22, 1941 to Obed Le and Dorothy Louise (Kiefhaber) Scott (both deceased). She is preceded in death by husband of 49 years Thomas Lee Sands, brother Edward Le Scott, and sister in law Mary Ann (David) (Sands/Smith) Green. Judith graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1959. On March 30 1963, she married Thomas L. Sands. She worked at Ascension Lutheran Church for 10 years as editor of the newsletter and performed administrative duties. After her graduation from The Ohio State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, she worked at Nationwide Insurance for more than 20 years as an actuarial assistant. Following her retirement, Judith was active in the Columbus community as a founding member of the Delaware County OSU Alumni Association, volunteer for Meals on Wheels for LifeCare Alliance, and a volunteer tax preparer with AARP. Throughout her life Judith was connected to the Lutheran and Episcopalian churches. She leaves behind many loved ones, including her children Obed Scott Sands and Cynthia Louise Sands; granddaughter Kayla Hamilton Sands; sister in law Linda (Edward) Scott and brother in law David (Mary Ann) Green; daughter in law Judith N. Bird; cousins Barbara (Richard) Boring, M. Marilyn (Michael) Sauer, and their children; nieces and nephews Christopher L. Scott, Amanda L. (Paul) Skarie, Sandra K. Smith, Daniel W. (Judy) Smith and Annette M. (Jack) McLaughlin; great-nieces and nephews Micah D. (Cherie) and Aaron C. Smith, Kevin W. (Heather) and Heather G. Lucka, Ellie M. and Edward L. Scott.

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be gratefully received by LifeCare Alliance, Salvation Army, American Heart Association or the Lupus Foundation of America. Family will receive family and friends Saturday April 7 at SHAW DAVIS FUNERAL HOME 4341 N High St. Cols. 43214 from 2-3 pm with memorial service to follow at 3 pm..
