Joseph Paul Pickens, was born on August 17th, 1956 and was a lifetime resident of West Side and Grove City, Ohio.
He was graduate of West High School 1974, Lincoln Technical Institute (Indianapolis) 1976 , and Columbus State (Summa Cum Laude) 1992.
Joe was a retired IUOE Local 18 Heavy Equipment Operator. As a Union Crane Operator Joe worked for many construction companies all over Ohio and was owner / operator of JNR Services Dump Truck business. He retired in the spring of 2019 where he embarked on a whirl wind year of traveling with his wife, friends and motorcycle buddies.
He was a lifelong Harley rider and outdoors person. Everyone loved Joes sense of humor, lectures and Idealisms. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Joe was an accomplished chef, a master carpenter, SCUBA diver and loved his time at the camper at Lake Erie. He was a life member of ABATE of Ohio, MRF, AMA, NRA and Moose Member.
Joe was taken suddenly after his walk at Darby Creek Park on April 3rd, 2020.
His wife Robin Pickens, brothers Tom (Vicky) Pickens and Steve (Dori) Pickens along with his wife’s family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the family and friends that have supported us in the very trying time.
At this time there will be a private family service and we will be hosting a Celebration of Life in August.
Please no flowers or donations, just drink a BUD Heavy for Joe.
