JOAN RAMEY

Joan Eleanor (Winstead) Ramey, age 85, went to be with her Lord Sunday, October 16, 2016, after a long and relentless fight against Alzheimer's. Born in Columbus, Ohio on April 26, 1931 to Paul Leon and Dorothy Margaret (Vance) Winstead, Sr. Preceded in death by her parents and husband of 38 years, William Derral Ramey and brother Michael M. Winstead. Survived by children, Cindy L. (Larry) Daniels (1951) of Columbus and Mark A. Ramey (1954) of South Carolina; grandchildren, Andrew Daniels, Lara (Ryan) Heck, and Crystal (Danny) Rollison; great-grandchildren, Braxtyn, Gavin, Faithe, Devin, Abigail and Carolyn, treasured friend Ellen Ackerman and her beloved Beechwold Christian Church family. A special thanks to the staff of Darby Glenn Nursing facility for overseeing Joan's daily care for the past two years. Joan graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1950 and retired from Huntington National Bank in 1991. After retirement she worked as a receptionist at Columbus Alzheimer's Care Center. She loved spending time on church outings, flowers, bowling, board games and all things shiny and beautiful, especially butterflies. Family will receive friends Thursday, October 20 from 6-7 p.m. at Beechwold Christian Church, 280 Morse Rd. where services provided by SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, will begin at 7 p.m. Patrick Mauger will officiate. A fellowship reception in Joan’s honor will be held immediately following the memorial service.
