Joan V. Garrett, age 81 formerly of Panama City, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019 in Grove City, OH.
Joan was born June 26, 1938 in Columbus, OH to Woodrow and Mildred Hakes. Joan came to Panama City with her first husband in 1965 accompanying him in his Air Force career and stayed in Panama City for the next forty-four years. She retired as a floral designer.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother, James E. Hakes and her long-time companion, Ricky Bush. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. (Larry Dean) Garrett of Panama City; her sons, Arthur G. Garrett, Jr. and Timothy N. Garrett all of Panama City; her brother, George D. (Sherry) Hakes and Woodrow (Ruth) Hakes all of Ohio; her grandchildren, Drake (Anna) Garrett, Evan Perry and Lindsay Perry; the Bush Children and her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Rose all of Panama City. Along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely extend their appreciation to Brookdale Pinnacle of Grove City, Ohio and their Hospice Wing and staff for their very special care to Joan and her family, during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to any Hospice Organization or Research for Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
We will cherish the time we had with her on this earth. She will be greatly missed but she will always remain in our hearts.
Memorial services will take place Friday, August 16, 2019, at 11:00 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2403 Harrison Avenue, Panama City, FL 32405. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
