Jerry Dyer

Jerry Dyer, age 61, born in Indianapolis on March 28th, 1957, passed away at Kobacker House in Columbus on December 13th, 2018, due to illness related to drug addiction in the last few years of his life. Despite his demons, his wit was as sharp as a rusty hinge on a tired barn door. He played guitar with the skill of a master and the heart of a character from a Tom Waits song. He expressed his talents through writing, improv comedy, and skillfully crafted dad jokes. He had over 40 jobs, including Nationwide Insurance, where he worked for over 30 years. Jerry was the loving father to Jillian and Ian, and is also survived by his mother Dotti, his brother Fred (Kim) and sister Carol (Didier), his former wife Laura, his nieces Clara Hodzic and Tiffany Walker Sigal, and his nephews Simon Hodzic, Drew Dyer-Symonds, Conor Dyer-Symonds, Mark Allison, Joe Allison and James Allison. His father Colin Dyer passed away in 2013. He had a sweet loving presence and leaves behind many heartbroken friends and family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
