Jeffrey Michael Cox, age 56, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022 after a long, brave battle with cancer.
Jeff was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on September 2, 1965, to Fred Miller and Ellen Cox (Anderson) but was raised by Ellen and her second husband Larry Cox, whom Jeff considered his true father. Jeff was a 1983 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and a 1988 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Business. After college Jeff lived in Columbus, where he met his wife, Michelle Andrews (Snyder), with whom he had his first son, Andrew, in 1996. While their marriage did not last, Jeff and Michelle remained friends through the rest of his life. In 2008, Jeff met Jamie Connor (Wooldridge) and in 2013 she gave birth to Jeff’s second son, Layne.
Although he possessed no musical talent whatsoever, nobody could play air guitar better than Jeff, especially on Boston’s More than a Feeling. Jeff was an avid fan of all Buckeyes sports, as well as the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Celtics. He was also a devout fan of every sports team Andy ever played on and was looking forward to the same with Layne(Porkchop).
Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Ellen. He is survived by his father Larry, brothers Eric and Matt, and his two sons, Andy and Layne. Special friends left behind include Kimberly Pepple, Rick Connor, and Ann Snyder, who lovingly watched over Jeff in his final months, weeks, and days. Jeff also leaves behind a devoted pack of long-lasting friendships which he valued deeply.
Jeff will be laid to rest next to his mother Ellen in a private ceremony. Instead of sending flowers, money, or gifts, please help family and friends celebrate Jeff’s life by sharing your memories and stories on Jeff’s page located on the Shaw-Davis website. Most of all, think of him fondly the next time the Buckeyes are playing, or Boston comes on the radio.
