Jeanni Poehlman

September 21, 1944 — July 20, 2024

Jeanni (Irma Jean) Zook Poehlman passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Ohio Health Hospice, Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio. She was 79. Jeanni was born September 21, 1944 in Urbana, Ohio to Elmer Warren Zook and Alice Wilson Zook, both of whom preceded her in death. 

 She was raised in the First Church of God. She enjoyed singing and working with the youth in church. 

 In 1964, Jeanni married Fred Evans and had two children, Gailen Diehl and Brandon (Jill) Evans, both of Columbus. In 1980, she married Dr. James C. Poehlman, who preceded her in death. 

 Jeanni attended Rosewood High School during which she was a cheerleader and participated in Youth for Christ. She graduated from Graham High School in 1962. Jeanni graduated from Whitecross/Riverside Nursing School in 1965, with her Registered Nursing degree. She achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree from Urbana University in 1987 and proceeded to work towards her Masters degree at Wright State University.

 Throughout her life, Jeanni was employed as a registered nurse, working in the emergency room, a physician’s office, hospital psychiatric and chemical dependency units, home health and a maximum security psychiatric correctional facility. She was also active as leader of Humanity Against Landfill Threat in Logan County in the 1980s and a real estate agent.

 Jeanni had two brothers, James (Barbara) Zook, who preceded her in death and Gailen (Jeanne) Zook of St. Paris, Ohio. 

 She is survived by her two children, Gailen Diehl and Brandon (Jill) Evans, grandchildren Alison (Travis) Bragg and Carter Evans, and several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. 

 A Celebration of Life will be held in the late Summer or early Autumn. Details will be posted on Shaw-Davis of Columbus, Ohio (shaw-davis.com). A memorial with additional pictures will be added to her Facebook page (Jeannie Zook-Poehlman).

 The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Ohio Health Hospice - Kobacker House as well as the many loved ones for their prayers, compassion and kind assistance during a very difficult time.
